Spanish Language Learning option number 3: Buy a Book

Okay, I’m going to tell you right now that, even though I make a living as a textbook author, I don’t really recommend this option. Why am I including it, then? Well, because some of you just love books! You love to hold them, to turn their pages, and to scribble in their margins. Still, though, I have to say again that you are 100% better off with Spanish language software. Why? It’s simple–interaction. Software and online programs are alive! You can converse with them. You can play fun games with them. You can even do things like record your voice and compare it to native Spanish Speakers. If you really, really want books, though, here you go. Spanish Language Learning option number 4: Take a Class

Even though I think software and web-based programs are the best ways to learn Spanish, classroom-based courses still offer many advantages. For example, it can be quite fun to attend a class where you make new friends and practice Speaking face-to-face. This will ring especially true for hose of you who have strong interpersonal skills and who get bored easily if left alone. In addition, a classroom-based course brings with it a bit of fear that can be quite motivating–you don’t want to be caught unprepared, and you don’t want to be the one who ruins scheduled group activities because you didn’t complete your homework assignment. Finally, if you aren’t the most organized person, then a classroom-based course will bring you the structure you need. Unfortunately, I can’t really recommend any classroom-based Spanish course for you, as you all live in different areas. My recommendation is that you just do a Google search.

Spanish Language Learning option number 5: Take the Plunge!

Take the plunge! Jump right into a Spanish language course in Spain or South America. Not only will you get the best Spanish learning experience possible (trust me, when you need to buy food, you learn quickly), but you’ll also get the experience of a lifetime. The biggest problem with this, of course, is that it’s pretty expensive. Because of that, you have to look at it as more than just language learning. It has to be a holiday, a learning experience, and perhaps, a networking experience. I have taken immersion courses in China, Korea, and Thailand, but not in Spain or South America, so, unfortunately, I cannot give you any first-hand recommendation. I can point you in the right direction, though. don Quijote Spanish Courses seem to set the standard for Spanish immersion courses, so, if you want an immersion course, I suggest starting your search there.
